Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of playsegno.com and your purchase of Segno products. By using the site or placing an order, you agree to them. We have tried to write them the way we would explain them across a kitchen table. "Segno," "we," and "us" mean the maker of Segno; "you" means you.

What Segno is

Segno is a screenless speaker that plays music when you set a printed card on it. The cards identify music; the music itself comes from your own Spotify account. Segno is not a music service, does not sell or license any recordings, and does not stream anything on its own.

You need Spotify

• Playing music through Segno requires your own active Spotify account, and Spotify's own terms apply to it. Some playback features may require Spotify Premium.
• Connecting your Spotify account to this site is read-only and covered in our Privacy Policy.
• Segno is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Spotify. Spotify is a trademark of Spotify AB. All music belongs to its rights holders.
• If Spotify changes or discontinues the features Segno relies on, some functionality may change or stop working. We will do our honest best to adapt, but we cannot promise services we do not control.

Orders and payment

• Prices are in US dollars. Payment is processed by Stripe; we never see your card number.
• Applicable sales tax and shipping are shown at checkout. We currently ship within the United States.
• Your order is accepted when we email a confirmation. We may cancel and fully refund an order we cannot fulfill, including one with a pricing or listing error.
• After checkout you choose the music for your cards. Cards are printed for your picks, so please double-check them before submitting. We will email you if a pick cannot be matched on Spotify, so you can choose another.

Shipping

• We ship within the United States by a tracked carrier, and email you the tracking number when your set leaves.
• Sets are made to order. Your cards are printed after you send your picks, and a set typically ships within 14 days of receiving them. If it will take longer, we tell you before then.
• If a package arrives damaged or the carrier marks it delivered and it is not there, tell us within 14 days of the delivery date and we will replace the set or refund you.
• Shipping cost, if any, is shown at checkout before you pay.

Cancelling, returning, and getting a refund

Getting money back should be as easy as spending it: one email to [email protected] with your order number does it.

• Before your set ships, cancel for a full refund, no questions.
• Within 30 days of delivery, if Segno is not right for your family, return the speaker for a refund of its purchase price. Email us first and we will send instructions. It should come back in its original condition and packaging; you cover return postage unless the item is defective.
• Cards are printed just for you, so they are not returnable for change of mind. If a card arrives damaged, misprinted, or does not play, send us a photo and we replace it free. No need to send it back.
• Refunds go back to the card you paid with, usually within ten business days of our receiving the return (or of the cancellation).

Defective speakers and cards

• Dead on arrival, or a fault in the first 30 days: we replace the speaker and cover shipping both ways.
• Warranty. We warrant the Segno speaker against defects in materials and workmanship for one year from delivery. If it fails in normal use during that time, we will repair or replace it. This warranty does not cover damage from accidents, liquids, misuse, or modification.
• Cards that stop working are replaced free for as long as you own the speaker. Cards are thick printed card stock with an electronic tag inside; they survive small hands but not a washing machine.
• To the extent permitted by law, this is your exclusive warranty and remedy, and we disclaim other warranties, express or implied, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. Some states do not allow these limitations, so they may not fully apply to you; this warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may have others that vary by state.

Made for kids, bought by adults

• Segno is designed for children to use and enjoy. Only an adult may place an order, connect a Spotify account, or accept these terms.
• The speaker is intended for children ages 3 and up. Younger children should use it with an adult. Keep the charging cable, and any packaging, away from small children.
• The speaker plays exactly what is on the cards you make. You choose the music, and you are responsible for whether it suits your child, including anything Spotify marks explicit.
• Sound is capped at a level meant for a room, not headphones. Even so, keep the volume sensible near little ears.

Using the site and the product

• Use Segno and this site for personal, non-commercial purposes.
• Do not misuse the site: no attempting to break, probe, or overload it, no scraping other people's information, and no using it to infringe anyone's rights.
• The site's design, text, images, and the Segno name and mark belong to us. The music, album art, and related metadata belong to their rights holders.

Limits on our liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Segno will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim relating to the site or a product is limited to the amount you paid us for that product. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Housekeeping

• These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
• If part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies.
• We may update these terms; the date above will change and meaningful changes will be called out plainly. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it.
